Going to Ryerson & Moving
I got some great news last night. I worked a late shift (until midnight) and came home to find an acceptance letter from Ryerson to their MBA in the Management of Technology and Innovation program! I had a hard time getting to sleep after, but I’m super happy that I’m in. I’ll be studying part time because I want to continue to work full time.
Also, Allen and I are moving next month. No major change though, we’re going right across the street from where we are now. Our landlord is selling our condo, so we needed to find a new place to rent. We like the area we’re in right now, so we found a new apartment nearby. The new place is a bit bigger and once again we’ll be the first tenants living in it.
And… I’m flying up to my hometown of Dryden in Northwestern Ontario this Saturday for a nine day visit. Well, technically I’m flying to Winnipeg then driving to Dryden, but anyway, if you’re a friend/family member in the area, I’ll see you this weekend! I’m bringing my snowkite gear, so please keep all the snow and ice intact for now.

Thanks Joel! I’m looking forward to hearing your MBA tips when you’re done in June. I heard you did the best in class on an assignment, congrats! I’m up in Dryden. Let’s visit when I’m back and in the new apartment. We’ll have one less traffic light to cross each morning when we move, so I guess we’ll be closer.

I got accepted for the same program (MBA-MTI) and I was just searching online for the program and i found your blog. Actually I was bit confused about the program, cause as you know its new as compared to schulich and rotmans. But obviously the positive points are thr too
So i just wanted to know your opinion, what do you think..I mean like is it worth it?

I can’t wait to start the program at Ryerson. I did my undergrad at York so I didn’t want to go to Schulich and I checked out Rotman, but I really wanted to be part of Ryerson’s Media Management specialization so I went for it. I start in September this year.

I am looking to get admission in the same program of Ryerson this year 2010. I was trying to find some feedback/rating of this program and found this blog. Any how as you have been there for a year now could you please share your experience? do you recommend MBA-MTI. Any idea what about the cut off GMAT score? I will appreciate you response..
I LOVE the program. I do recommend the MBA-MTI, which is what I’m in. Ryerson’s MBA program is new, but its building a reputation as the technical MBA and having that specialization will help in the workplace. Love the culture there and every single class I’ve attended, I’ve learned something new. Anyway, I highly recommend it. You can find out about the GMAT scores here: http://www.ryerson.ca/mba/faq/
You can apply before taking your GMAT and get a conditional acceptance based on your achieving a certain score.

What is your background? I am in software consulting for the past 3 years…Can you give me more information about the program and how it has helped you? Are you doing it full time?
My work experience is in the interactive industry as both an entrepreneur and in broadcasting. I work full time right now and take the program part time. Each class, I’ve learned something that’s applicable to work.
There’s a lot of people with engineering backgrounds in the technical MBA that I’m taking. Engineers are probably the biggest group and then there’s a smattering of people from any other background you could think of, it’s a very diverse program.
I highly suggest you attend one of the Ryerson MBA information sessions. It’s a great way to meet the faculty and get a feel of the culture of the program to see if it’s a good fit for you.
