My Parents Visit
My parents decided last week to go away on vacation for a month. They’re spending two weeks in Antigua and two weeks in Barbados before coming back home. On the way to their destination, they stopped over in Toronto for a day. They had a grueling time getting here. On Thursday, Toronto had no snow at all, not a flake. On Friday though, the day they were scheduled to arrive, we got one of the biggest storms of the winter and the city shut down. Over 200 flights into Pearson were canceled and while my parents were lucky enough to not have their flight canceled, they were stranded in Thunder Bay for hours. They were supposed to arrive at 11:20 pm on Friday, but instead we all got back to my place in Toronto at 4 am on Saturday morning. We all got to sleep around 5 am and spent Saturday sleeping in, resting and napping.
Saturday evening all the family living in southern Ontario (Darra, Jim, Tayiah, Evan, Joel, Sarah, Cary Jr., Alan & myself) went out with mom & dad for good eats at Mandarin. Afterwards, we had a quick visit at Darra & Jim’s house before going back home.
Sunday we were back up at 5 am getting ready to go to the airport for mom & dad’s flight. We were all so pooped! But, disrupted sleeping patterns mean nothing next to getting to visit with family. Mom & dad haven’t been to Toronto this century and I don’t think they’ve been on vacation for that long either. I’m so happy that they decided to just go. They called me last night to tell me they arrived safely in Antigua. I hope their time down south is spent getting well & happy.

Good for them! They are missing the coldest weather we have had yet this year!
Can you email me their home mailing address please? They were so nice to send Eva flowers in the hospital and also to the funeral. It looks like I have a bit of time to send their thank you card while they are away, lounging in the sun…
