Weekend Getaway

Allen and I spent the weekend away together in Niagara-on-the-Lake, where we got married earlier this summer. We stayed and dined at the Prince of Wales hotel, toured the town and saw the play An Inspector Calls at the Shaw Festival.
The hotel we stayed in is an old historical building built in the late 1800s with everything decorated very ornately. We had big suite with a fireplace and it was cool enough outside to use it. Al says he slept great in the bed, which was probably 50% larger than our one at home.
The food at the hotel was good, but not great. What was great though was the dessert I ordered. If you ever go to NOTL, order the Caramel Fruit Fondue at the Prince of Wales hotel. I got assorted berries in a chocolate bowl and liquid caramel to dip them in. The caramel also came in a bowl made of sugar. It was one of those desserts that would kill a diabetic on sight, but oh man… SO good.
We both gave the play a “meh” out of five. Allen loved the set and the slow pendulum swing of the stage. We both liked the acting of the mom & dad in the story, but neither of us really cared for the script or the other players. It was enjoyable enough of an evening out, but I wouldn’t go see that play again.
We shopped around the town and walked down to Queen’s Royal Park where we got married. The town was still very busy this weekend, but there weren’t many people at the park. It was beautiful there with all of the fall leaves.
Being in wine country, we also visited a farm/winery and picked up some blueberry fruit wine which we brought back to Toronto.
We had a really amazing, relaxing time away from it all, just the two of us. It was a wonderful way to spend the weekend.

Sounds like you had a great little getaway.
Cheers.
Now everyone is talking about the American economy and eclections, nice to read something different. Eugene
That was a great weekend. I love that town.
